Nice to meet you, I'm Madison
My name is Madison Lacilla and I am a student at Litchfield High School. I enjoy school, sports, community service, extracurricular activities, working and just being with my friends and family! I especially love getting involved in my community in the town Litchfield, CT and I am excited to continue in this growth journey.
I work at @The Corner where I am a fully trained hostess and will greet you with a warm welcome and smile to your dining experience. I also clean and set tables, deliver food and support my co-workers in anything they ask me to do. I love getting to know the guests and meeting new people in my community. I work around 20 hours per week, dedicated, reliable and follow through on whatever needs to be done. I work with a big smile on my face and can handle any pressure that’s thrown at me as we are the busiest restaurant in Litchfield. I started this job at age 15 and the life skills I have developed at such an early age have given me a significant advantage in life. Communication skills, patience, teamwork, money management, how to motivate and work well with others not to mention the ability to network and meet new people.
I also work part-time at a company called Bearicuda.com where I serve in several different capacities for the company. I answer calls and take orders while helping customers select the right product for their specific needs. I also support the shipping department by putting together product kits for the company’s bear-proof garbage cans. I have been working for Bearicuda since I was 13 years of age performing a wide variety of interesting business roles from customer service, shipping and handling, kitting, accounts receivable, and learning a little about website design.
Being new to Litchfield I have always felt right at home. It’s a busy yet small town so getting to know people is very easy, especially with my job. I often like to walk or jog into town to get lunch with friends or family. Aside from school or work, you can typically find me helping in my community. I volunteer at the Torrington Soup Kitchen serving meals to the homeless or people in need of a warm and welcoming place. In addition, I also volunteer at the Possum Queen Foundation where I am the Co-president of “The Little Possums” the group I helped founded where we help raise money for local families with either medical or financial hardships. I also donate some of my time to the Oliver Wolcott Library, an event called “The Festival of Trees' ' held every November where I will purchase a Christmas Tree, decorate, and donate it for auction to help fund our local library.
I am also a member of the Interact club where we help local businesses set up events to raise money for charities. In addition, I am also a member of the Future Business Leaders of America club, FBLA, where we are known for raising over $1,500 every year for families in town who need help buying a Thanksgiving dinner. FBLA also allows me to develop and learn about business and the entrepreneurial processes of developing a business and putting that business plan and idea in front of others to evaluate and critique.
In a personal capacity, I am the middle child of my older sister Brooke, and younger brother Luke with whom we are all very close and support each other. My parents have always preached the importance of family in which no one else will have your best interest and support you more. Having such a caring family has given me a strong understanding on how to show and give kindness to the people in my life and others that I don’t know, especially when volunteering in my community.
I started my education at St. Johns, a private Catholic School, and was very involved in community events, the arts such as music (piano, Guitar) and pottery as well as school sports such as basketball, tennis, and golf which has carried over into my high school. My journey thus far has been inspiring, educational, and emotional with loads of fun and I am so excited to continue this journey of growth in my next 4 years at college.
These are my siblings, Luke who is 15, and Brooke 18. As I mentioned before, we as siblings share an incredible bond, we are truly best friends and love one another deeply. This is not something I say for the sake of just saying it, it’s true and the support we give to one another is unique and one that has a tremendous impact on each of our lives.
As I mentioned, our family lives in Litchfield, CT a small town that is cozy, friendly, and a supportive community. I often ride my bike with friends or walk into town for some lunch. When I am not busy with school or work, you can typically find me helping in my community. I volunteer at the Torrington and Waterbury, CT Soup Kitchens serving meals to the homeless or people in need of a warm and welcoming place. In addition, I also volunteer at the Possum Queen foundation where I am the president of “The Little Possums” the group I founded with my sister Brooke and brother Luke where we help raise money for local families with either medical or financial hardships. I also donate some of my time to the Oliver Wolcott Library, an event called “The Festival of Trees” held every November where I will purchase a Christmas Tree, decorate, and donate it for auction. I am also a member of “FBLA Club”.
Here is my family, as I mentioned prior, I have an older sister Brooke and a younger brother Luke. Brooke attends Providence College, and my younger brother Luke is finishing up his first year at Salisbury School, in Salisbury CT where he boards. My parents have always instilled the importance of family and that no one is going to care about me more than my parents and my siblings so we always have that special bond and friendship that will never be broken or replaced. Being close to my family has always given me a safe space of strength, someplace where I feel comfortable talking freely and openly with them about anything and everything on my mind. Here are some pictures!
